Regular and Irregular Verbs

A verb is regular when its past and past participle forms end in –ed. When the past and past participle forms do not end in –ed, the verb is irregular. For some irregular verbs, all three forms are the same.

The past and past participle form of learn can be learnt or learned.

Correct! Wrong!

Beaten is the past participle form of beat.

8. Her hands were ………………………….

Correct! Wrong!

9. Although he had made many mistakes, they ……………………………. him continue.

Correct! Wrong!

Let is the past and past participle form of let.

10. He was …………………………. to enter his country ever again.

Correct! Wrong!

11. They …………………………. him out because he hadn’t paid the rent.

Correct! Wrong!

The past simple form of throw is threw.

12. The drought has ……………………….. a heavy blow to farm output across the nation.

Correct! Wrong!

Dealt is the past and past participle form of deal.
